Caught

Be Sure Your Sin Will Find You Out

In a world filled with hyper-sexualized behavior, this story should not have surprised us, but it went viral and made national news. The picture above is ripped right from the headlines of the week. The tech CEO and the company HR director were caught on the jumbotron snuggling at a concert for the whole world to see. When the camera caught them, they immediately ducked down and tried to hide. You see, his wife and her husband did not know these two were at the concert, much less wrapped in each other’s arms. As a result of the incident, the CEO has resigned his position at the company.

What happened? They were there secretly, and their secret was put on display for the whole world to see. It means I need to understand, you need to understand, that keeping secrets in a world of sexual betrayal and problematic sexual behavior can destroy your family, your marriage, your job, and more.

While these may be unintended consequences, (I’m sure this couple didn’t think they would get caught and have consequences), there are always consequences. It is never pretty and gets progressively worse with each and every secret. The more secrets you keep,

What is the answer? First, understand the real need that your partner has for rigorous honesty and transparency. This is something I have downplayed for years. I thought I was smarter. I thought I could hide things better. I was wrong on both counts. When you do this, the results are disastrous. There is no road to recovery without this rigorous honesty. Second, be sure your sin will find you out. You cannot hide from God. He knows what you are doing. He will lead your wife to know in her heart that there is something secret, hidden.

The question you need to ask yourself is this? Do you want to be the next face on the jumbotron? Is it really worth the seismic consequences that you will have to pay? I think if we can answer those two questions every time we even think about keeping secrets regarding this poisonous, problematic sexual behavior, we will be a whole lot less likely to hide things, to keep those secrets.
